NSP Vaccine Summary
- Covid - over 75, severe immunoncompromised, housebound and carehome.
Currently every Spring and Autumn
- RSV - 75 to 79 years old and pregnant Mothers. One vaccine for the older adult. Every pregnancy
Respiratory Synctial Virus – common cause of coughs and colds. Can cause respiratory tract infections.
Against bronchiolitis in the infants.
- Pneumococcal - over 65 or in a clinical risk group ( asplenia or dysfunction of the spleen, chronic resp disease, chronic heart disease, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, immunosuppression, cochlear implants, cerebrospinal fluid leaks.)
Asplenia, splenic dysfunction and chronic renal disease need it every 5 years
Pneumococcal vaccine is against bacterial infection which can cause pneumonia, sepsis and meningitis.
- Shingles age 65 - 79. Rolling programme (2 vaccines 6.5/12 apart). We are currently in year 3 of the rolling programme. Dependant on when their birthday is.
Severely immunosuppressed aged 50 years and over (2 vaccines 8/52 apart)
- Flu – aged 65 + or lower if in an at risk group (chronic resp disease, chronic heart and vascular disease, chronic liver and kidney disease, chronic neurological disease, diabetes and adrenal insufficiency, immunosuppression, asplenia or dysfunction of spleen, morbid obesity.)
Other risk groups are pregnant women, household contacts of immunosuppressed and carers.
Children age 2 – 17 have the live nasal flu vaccine (LAIV.)
Babies at risk age 6/12 to 2 years can be eligible as well.
