Dr John Robinson
I qualified from University of Bristol in 1977. After a year in Anaesthetics I joined the Avon GP Vocational Training Scheme and in 1983 became a partner in the Newbury St Practice. I am married to a Community Physiotherapist and we have three children.
Clinically I believe in the traditional values of General Practice, particularly whole person and continuity of care and try to practice them in a modern setting. With that remit I am particularly interested in Cardiovascular Medicine and ENT.
My specialist interest is in Medical Informatics, the application of IT in Primary Care. From 1996 to 2000 I worked for Meditel then Torex, the predecessors of iSoft the clinical system we use in the practice today. Some of the software I developed is still in current use. In 2000 I joined the PRIMIS Clinical Advisory group and in 2005 became a Technical and Clinical Advisor to PRIMIS+ based at the University of Nottingham. Recently we developed the national IM&T DES data quality audit and trained assessors across England. 6664 practices have uploaded data to our system using the CHART software, co-authored by myself and John Williams. In 2008 I presented a poster on this project at the American Medical Informatics Association conference in Washington DC. (Annual Symposium Proceedings/AMIA Symposium. :1113, 2008) We continue to work in improving Data Quality across Primary Care nationally. I also work with a number of PCTs in supplying audits and providing informatics advice.
I chair the Oxfordshire Primary Health Information Management and Technology Advisory Group ( PHIMTAG) and sit on the Oxfordshire PCT IT subgroup.
I am a keen gardener and spent much of my remaining time in the garden. I also enjoy butterfly and bird-watching.
Dr Sarah Shackleton
I was brought up in London, and went to medical school at St Bartholomew's Hospital. Here I not only learned medicine, but was introduced to the joys of rowing, climbing and hill walking, and it is where I became a Christian. Junior hospital posts followed, mainly at Whipps Cross Hospital, Leytonstone. It was also in this area that I did my GP training. By the end of training I had passed my MRCGP, was married and expecting the first of our 3 children. We moved to Oxfordshire and I then worked very part-time for 7 years. In 1996, after retraining, I joined the Newbury Street Practice as a part-time partner, moving to Wantage the following year. I still greatly enjoy the variety and continuity of General Practice, as well as being part of a close-knit team. We are involved with a local church and love being part of the local community. Relaxation and exercise is often combined with walking our 2 Spaniels - so I'm sure we will meet any dog walkers out there at least once on our wanders.
Dr Rhodri Davies
I was brought up in Aberystwyth and qualified in the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff after having completed a degree in Political Theory from Southampton University. I have since worked in hospital in South Wales, Gloucester & Cheltenham and qualified as a GP in Gloucestershire. I am interested in all aspects of General Practice though most of my hospital experience was in the field of adult medicine, particularly dermatology and diabetic medicine. Outside of work, I (try) to enjoy Welsh rugby and follow most sports. My wife writes about International Relations and looks after our 2 young children, Joshua & Clement.
Dr Andrew Partner
I grew up in Manchester and Buckinghamshire and studied Medicine at Southampton University, qualifying in 2000. As a student, I joined the Royal Air Force as a medical cadet and served ten enjoyable years at various locations around the UK and abroad.
Before qualifying as a GP, I undertook some training as an eye specialist and so can manage certain eye conditions in the practice. I am married to Sheena and we have two young children, Matthew and Katherine, not forgetting Kitty the cat. I enjoy cycling, travelling and spending quality time with my family.
Dr Frances Watt
Hi, my name is Frances Watt. I joined the Practice in July 2003. I work 3 days per week, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. I trained at Oxford University, first at Brasenose then Green College. I qualified BM BCh Oxon in 1996. I gained my Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in March 2000, and then passed with merit the Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners in July 2001. My jobs prior to General Practice were mainly in adult medicine. I now have an interest in contraception. I grew up on the Wirral but have now been living in and around Oxford since 1990. I am delighted to have a young son, James, so my hobbies have now reduced to occasional games of tennis!
